Hi! My name is Bud Greenberg and here is my story.
On 15 February 1993, I was in the Bachelor Officers’ Quarters at Fort Belvoir, VA. I found out several months earlier while in Phoenix, Arizona on a special Army Training with Industry assignment, that I was RIFed. What that term means is that my Army career was terminated in a reduction in force. I had looked for work for seven months; unsuccessfully. I was nearing the end of my active duty commitment and concerns for how I was going to support my wife and three children were paramount. This was exacerbated by the poor economic conditions in Washington at the time.
I was wearing my wife out with my fretting. Finally, Sue could take no more and suggested that I go alone somewhere and wrestle these issues through with God Himself. I followed my wife’s advice. I left my home, checked into the BOQ, unplugged the TV, and started a day long fast.
After an hour of prayer, worship and Bible study, God spoke to me. He told me that my job situation was solved. He gave me no further details. He then said that while I was here with Him, He had some other things that He wanted to talk to me about.
By the way, one month later, I started my next career. On 16 March 2011, I will have served 18 years in the same job; a job that I absolutely love.
11 days after I was in this hotel room, at a Christian Embassy Bible Study in The Pentagon, LTC Al Lewis prayed for me and suggested I contact one of the officers he worked with about a contract position. I followed his advice. Needless to say, by His grace, I am still here.
What follows over the next few weeks of devotionals is a compilation of the notes I took Sunday evening and Monday morning, 14 and 15 February 1993. They comprise 40 distinct teachings plus some additional materials.
This is what God had to say to me. I thought that it would also be an encouragement to you.
