Be Strong and Courageous
Written by Joe Gibbs on Friday, 26 March 2010.
I want to finish up with something I've been reading in my morning study sessions. It comes from the first chapter of Joshua. It's exciting to read this chapter because Joshua was being told that he was the man that was going to be replacing Moses. You talk about a challenge! So, Joshua was going to be transforming from a warrior to a political leader of Israel. Being a political leader may be more dangerous than being a warrior! What God says to him three different times though in that chapter is: be strong and courageous. God laid out a plan for how this was to happen. He says to meditate on a book day and night (most people believe he was talking about the book of Deuteronomy). So, here God is laying out a plan for being successful. If you study God's word, meditating on it day and night, we are going to be successful. God has left all of us His Bible. A book that was written by 35 authors over a time period of 1,500 years and it's been perfect from the beginning to the end. In the Bible, God lays out what you need to lead a successful, modern-day life.
As you've heard over the last couple of months, I am now doing speaking in different cities. In these cities, we form a committee who try to find a hundred people who volunteer to be table hosts. These 100 people then recruit ten people to sit at their table at the event and then the table leaders will provide follow-up to these people. Having said that, we just finished one of these events in Raleigh this past weekend. After the event, I had a chance to speak at a local prison as well. It's been life-changing for me to speak at these prisons. I have been struck about how serious the prisoners are in regards to what I have to say. I tell these prisoners that our God is a God of second chances. Isn't that great? In my talk with them, I relayed the message of David's life. So, what did David do? He had everything in his life from lying, to sex sins, to murder. Yet, he fell at God's feet and asked for forgiveness and God said that this is a man after my own heart. Please be praying for both of these events as I will do more in the future.
So, if we are strong and courageous, and meditate on his word day and night--we will be successful.
